Happy Friday!

I’ve been listening to this song on repeat quite a bit in the last few months.  For me, it has the effect of soothing my fears, reminding me of God’s power and promises.  It’s such beautiful music.

I love the piano, and the melodious standup bass solo by John Patitucci is mellow and deep.  (I’m a big fan of instruments that use the lower musical registers.  They’re so calming.)  It feels like a slow song at the jazz club, naturally inducing deep breaths of relief.  It’s a great way to kick off your weekend, especially if you’ve had a long and stressful week.

I’m a fan of the lyrical songwriting that the Gettys do so well.  In this particular song, I love how they connect the hope of God’s promise to Abraham with the star that the wise men followed to find the newborn King Jesus, and then connect both of those stories to the frequent refrain that God tells His people throughout Scripture:

Do not be afraid.  I am with you.

#breathe

I hope you enjoy the song today!
